Diversity
GMPT values and embraces the diversity of the local population, existing employees and potential employees and will ensure that all policies, procedures and practices reflect this commitment.
Aims
GMPT recognises that it has the power to reduce disadvantage experienced by people in the Greater Manchester area by making its services more responsive to different community and individual needs. We want to deliver our services to local communities regardless of gender, gender identity, age, ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, marital status, sexual orientation or any other individual characteristic which may unfairly affect a person’s opportunities in life. We also recognise that our ability to meet these diverse needs is improved by having a diverse workforce which generally reflects the local population and which has the skills and understanding to achieve our service objectives. We commit ourselves to valuing diversity in our workforce and to developing and training our employees to improve their ability to meet the overall aims of the National Probation Service.
Objectives
We will strive to become an organisation that:
GMPT expects all of its employees at all levels to adhere to this policy and to actively engage in and promote best practice with regards to diversity. If an individual is found to have acted in a discriminatory manner or in any way that contravenes this policy this may be looked at under formal procedures.
